U.S. President George Bush has told a British daily newspaper that he regrets appearing, in his words, “anxious” for the 2003 war in Iraq. In an interview published today (Wednesday) in The Times, Mr. Bush said he could have used a different rhetoric in the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. He said his use of phrases such as “bring them on” and “dead or alive” made people believe he was not a man of peace.
Mr. Bush also said he was troubled about how the United States had been misunderstood ahead of the invasion, and he expressed regret about divisions caused by the war.
