Indian security forces say they are making progress against heavily armed militants who have laid siege to Mumbai, but officials emphasize that operations are still under way. Indian commandos Friday reported they took control of the Oberoi-Trident hotel, killed two militants inside and freed hostages who had been trapped in the building since the attacks began Wednesday. But at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and a building belonging to a Jewish group, fighting is still going on. Militants are believed to be holding hostages at both locations. Beginning Wednesday, groups of attackers launched an unprecedented, highly coordinated series of attacks on multiple locations throughout the financial capital. At least 140 people have been killed and 300 wounded. Foreigners and high-ranking police are among the dead. Authorities say at least seven militants have been killed in the ongoing operations. Police say they have arrested several others, including three suspected members of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
