A Chinese business magazine says authorities in China have arrested a top official of the state-run China Development Bank on corruption charges, including taking bribes. “Caijing” magazine reported on its Web site Tuesday that Wang Yi, a former vice president of the bank, is suspected of taking more than one-and-a-half million dollars in bribes. The magazine says authorities detained Wang in June during an investigation into his alleged illicit activities and referred his case to prosecutors last month.
“Caijing” did not name its sources. Chinese officials did not comment on the arrest. China’s Development Bank was set up to finance government projects.
Before joining the bank, Wang was a chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission in charge of stocks and investment funds.
