上海一家法院以受贿罪判处曾负责监管建设上海一个豪华商业区的前上海官员无期徒刑。中国官方媒体说，上海这个法庭星期二将原上海浦东新区副区长判刑。康惠军被裁定有罪，接受了86万多美元的贿赂，并通过非法途径获得两倍于此的财产。
康惠军的妻子王孝琴也因受贿被判5年徒刑。法庭说，康惠军批准土地出售，帮助别人获取合同，作为回报，他获取现金。
A Chinese court has handed a life sentence to a former Shanghai official convicted of taking bribes while he developed a major business district in the city. Chinese state media say the Shanghai court sentenced the former vice governor of the city’s Pudong area, Kang Huijun, on Tuesday. He was found guilty of accepting 860-thousand dollars in bribes, and of acquiring twice that amount through illegal channels.
Kang’s wife, Wang Xiaoqin, was sentenced to five years in prison, also for taking bribes. The court said he approved land sales and helped people win contracts in exchange for cash.
