North Korea has announced a trial date next month for two U.S. journalists who were detained in March along the China-North Korea border.

North Korea’s state-run news agency (Korean Central News Agency) released a brief report Thursday saying the trial for Euna Lee and Laura Ling will begin on June fourth.

The one-sentence report did not specify what charges the Americans will face.

Pyongyang has previously said an investigation confirmed that the female reporters illegally entering the country in order to carry out “hostile acts.”

Some analysts say North Korea is trying to use the women as bargaining chips to gain a diplomatic advantage with the United States.

Earlier this week, the United States said North Korea has been refusing consular access to the journalists.
