印尼空军发言人说，15人脱险，飞机是准备在附近的机场降落时坠毁的。他说这架“大力神”C-130运输机载着军事人员及其家属共100多人，包括至少10名儿童。
遇难者中至少有两个地面上的人。当时，飞机撞入一个村庄，随后冲进附近一片农田，机身起火燃烧。
目击者称，看到飞机碎片从空中落下并且听到了爆炸声。
印尼电视报导显示，军人从飞机残骸中搬出尸体。飞机的尾部是机身唯一保存下来的部分。
Indonesian officials say a military transport plane crashed into homes and burst into flames Wednesday near an air force base in East Java, killing at least 98 people and injuring more than 10 others.
A spokesman for the Indonesian air force said 15 people survived the crash, which occurred while the plane was preparing to land at the nearby air base. The spokesman said the Hercules C-130 plane was carrying more than 100 military personnel and their families, including at least 10 children.
At least two people on the ground were among those killed when the plane slammed into a village and skidded to a flaming halt in a nearby rice field.
Witnesses reported seeing parts of the plane falling from the sky and hearing explosions.
Indonesian television showed uniformed soldiers pulling bodies from smoldering debris. The plane’s tail appeared to be the only section of the aircraft to remain intact.
