柬埔寨卫生官员说，一名19岁的男子被确诊患致命禽流感病毒。柬埔寨卫生部和世界卫生组织星期五公布的声明说，这名男子患病前，在11月份接触过死了的家禽。星期四完成的检查确定他感染的是H5N1型病毒。
这是2005年首次发现禽流感以来，柬埔寨的第8例人类感染致命性禽流感的案例。以前7名受感染的人都已经死亡，不过医生说，这名男子预计不会死亡。这名患者来自金边以南的甘丹省，他正在首都金边一家医院接受治疗。
Cambodian health officials say a 19-year-old man has been diagnosed with the lethal strain of the bird flu virus. A statement released Friday by the health ministry and the World Health Organization says the man became sick after coming into contact with dead poultry in late November. Tests completed on Thursday confirmed he has been infected with the H5N1 strain of the virus.
This is the eighth reported case of a human contracting the deadly strain of bird flu in Cambodia since it was first detected in 2005. All seven previous victims have died, but doctors say this man is expected to survive. The victim, from Kandal province, south of Phnom Penh, is being treated in a hospital in the capital city.
