U.S. prosecutors say confessed swindler Bernard Madoff and his wife should give up millions of dollars worth of possessions now that he has pleaded guilty to one of the largest frauds in U.S. history. Officials have filed papers asking court permission to seize the couple’s $7 million New York apartment, along with several other luxurious homes, exotic cars, boats, securities, and other goods.

Madoff is in jail awaiting a hearing in June on sentencing. The 70-year old former financial guru could get as much as 150 years in prison.

His attorney has filed an appeal asking that he be freed until the sentencing hearing. Until Thursday’s guilty plea, Madoff had been living under house arrest . Estimates of the size of the fraud range up to $65 billion.
