Earlier today (Monday), Moscow issued an ultimatum demanding that 15-hundred Georgian troops stationed near Abkhazia either disarm or face attack. Georgia rejected the disarmament call, a day after Russian authorities said they were preparing to deploy nine thousand troops to Abkhazia.
Large-scale fighting erupted last week, when Russian forces invaded another Georgian breakaway territory, South Ossetia, in response to a Georgian military push against separatists in the territory.
